Items to Keep with You

It’s going to be a busy weekend so don’t let the summer heat get to you! We are looking to move 5,500 people this Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25. Here’s some more summer friendly items that can make your move go smooth.

  • Bring Water, if you have pets pack a travel bowl for them.
  • I know this may be obvious but keep your keys together and in easy access.
  • Toiletries are a must as well! Anything you need for the morning and night routines so you feel at ease settling into your new home. This can include a shower curtain, toilet paper and basic cleaning supplies.
  • Some basic cooking utensils unless you plan on eating out. Enough for one meal per a person should suffice for the night.
  • Entertainment is usually looked over in the rush of it all.
  • Have a phone charger on hand.
  • Duct tape is another good go to items to keep near while moving.
  • Snack packs are good too!

Perks of In-Home Estimates (PART 1)

Relocation is one of the top stressors of your lifetime. Adding moving to the list of “learning experiences” isn’t fun. Take it from your Gwinnett and Hall relocation experts, being over-prepared never hurt anyone. Each Wednesday we’ll help you ask the right questions about In-Home Estimates. Here we go:

6milSG-May2017

Why choose a local mover?

-Atlanta traffic is as unpredictable as the weather. If your mover doesn’t live in Gwinnett or Hall county, they might not know how to navigate backroads or the quickest way to your new home without a GPS. As proud members of the Gwinnett and Hall communities, we pride ourselves in finding valuable resources for our customers. Ask your In-Home Estimator for details.

Why not give an inventory over the phone?

-Humans are flawed. Cell service is flawed. Landlines might be more accurate but the weather we’ve recently had caused a few flickers in power. Our move consultants at TWO MEN Lawrenceville do their best to help during your estimate, however homes larger than 3 rooms or with a full basement/attic or in-law suite typically have more items than we remember on the phone.

Why does an In-Home Estimate matter?

-If your family opts for an in-home estimate, chances are you’ve moved before. If this is your first move, get an accurate account of the items you need to bring with you by asking for an in-home estimate.

Why trust a moving company?

-With news, movies and your favorite TV shows highlighting criminals as movers it’s hard to see the good in moving. Look into your potential movers customer reviews on social media. This will give you a feel for how the company treats their customers. Always make sure to use a reputable relocation expert that is licensed, bonded and insured.

Why should TWO MEN AND A TRUCK be part of the moving process?

-Atlanta has a lot of renegade moving companies. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Lawrenceville encourages all of it’s customers to follow Clark Howard’s advice. Use a company that offers a binding estimate, or flat rate. The more flat rates you have, the more educated decision your family can make.

Movers for Mutts 2016 Results

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Lawrenceville loved working with local businesses and community members during Movers for Mutts last fall. In order to collect more items for Hall County Animal Shelter, we extended the program into December. Our Lawrenceville staff gathered 1,192 items for rescues during Movers for Mutts!earthwise-in-buford-277

Special shout outs to Pooch ‘N Paws and Earthwise in Buford for going above and beyond. Movers for Mutts in Lawrenceville and Suwanee would not have been possible without these wonderful partners.

Earthwise Pet in Buford came in the mix later into our Movers for Mutts campaign but made every effort to help! We’re excited to partner with them again this fall :]

Pooch n Paws.PNGPooch ‘N Paws donated more items than we knew what to do with. Their founder, Starla, was more than gracious. We’re so proud to have partnered with a Suwanee small business that has a heart for their community.

Every time we came by or called to check in, each employee went the extra mile to help. We salute Pooch ‘N Paws for their strong effort to gather items for Movers for Mutts. Our Suwanee movers wish Pooch ‘N Paws a wonderful spring and summer.

In a few weeks, we’ll back at Paws in the Park for round two! Our Lawrenceville staff enjoyed meeting new four-legged friends and spreading the word about Movers for Mutts last September on the Lawrenceville Lawn. This spring, Paws in the Park is back on 4/22. If your family is looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday, come by and see all the pretty pups!

SAFFT, Friends of Foster Families

Supporting Adoption and Foster Families Together (SAFFT) started in 2009 in Forsyth County. As an OG support group for foster parents, SAFFT aimed to strengthen the Metro Atlanta fostering system. Since 2009, SAFFT has grown to encompass a second location in Hall County and expand to empower more families in a variety of ways.

saffttt

Fostering can be rough! Carting kids to doctor’s appointments, therapy seeions, school registration and other errands adds up fast. Not to mention the additional allergies, sicknesses or adjustment phase each child goes through when transitioning to a new home. No time to recoup, huh? SAFFT aims to keep kids closeby their biolical parents. Instead of hammering DFCS victims with rules, regulations and crazy procedures, SAFFT makes every effort to piece families back together by offering:

-supervised visitation with fosters and birth families

-family therapy

kid-conflict avoidance training

-a Christian-based mentor program

-scholarships for foster children

-support group meetings

-to deliver a week’s worth of meals to new foster families

-Licenced psycological and councilors on staff

-Parent’s Night Out once a month for biological and foster kids (3 hours of freedom, y’all!)

kid-2

In addtion to having a heart for children, SAFFT also has a heart for the community. They keep an extended closet the size of a warehouse loaded with resources for foster families. Need an extra crib for a transitioning child? SAFFT has those. Looking to buy a few extra carseats for the twins who’ll be staying with your family for a while? Ask SAFFT to go closet shopping real quick. Not sure where to find another kid’s comforter short notice? Call SAFFT to see if they’ve got your preferred-sized linen. Toys shopping? Nah, poke around the community closet first!

Earlier in the year, SAFFT put on a color run in Forsyth but next weekend they’ve got a Glow Out the Dark 5K to celebrate their new kid-4Gainesville location! The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Suwanee team is proud to partner with SAFFT on November 19. We’ve already started shopping for battery and solar powered lights for our favorite friend, Truckie. Stay tuned on social for all the glowing details.

We’re thrilled to help SAFFT rebuild families by lovingly encouraging biological parents. Progress, not perfection. Everyone makes mistakes! It’s up to our communities in the Metro Atlanta area to team up together and help protect and praise caregivers as they work through DFCS, negative divorces or domestic abuse situations.

Thank you from the Suwanee Movers Who Care to all the friendly families who’ve broken the cycle for these sweet foster kids. Keep up the good work!
